In seeking this office, I bring over 30 years of legal experience, having tried over 1,000 cases and appearing before the U.S. and Illinois Supreme Courts. As a board member of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and as Cook County Commissioner, I helped pass an assault weapons ban. As state's attorney, I will target handgun violence, crackdown on the illegal use of handguns and close down gun shops.The NRA has targeted me for defeat. I consider that a badge of honor.

As County Commissioner, I have a record of independence and reform fighting to remove patronage, waste and corruption. I helped pass a whistleblower ordinance, negotiated a tough law against patronage and opposed President Stroger's property tax increase.

Too many in Cook County feel the state's attorney's office does not represent them. We need to change that---by increasing diversity in the office and making sure police misconduct is investigated fairly and completely.

My goal is to make Cook County a better place for all of us to live. The status quo won't cut it. We can do better. I look forward to earning your vote on February 5th.
